Meet The Team // Kimmie McKibben Driscoll

Kimmie-McKibben-Each-is-Every

Kimmie is a beam of light. A champion of our work, mission, and community since its earliest days, she has naturally transitioned over the years from dedicated reader and follower, to contributing writer, to digital coordinator—and we’re so lucky to have her talent, charm, and creativity on our team. Whether she’s coming up with witty AF copy, or hauling her own furniture to a photo shoot to ensure the perfect shot, we’re always excited to see what she comes up with next.

EiE: Tell us who you are in just a few words or sentences.

Kimmie: I’m a caffeine-fueled travel lover who enjoys a good story.

Tell us about your role at EiE.

As Digital Coordinator, I work to create content for the EiE platforms alongside our social queen, Chynna. My responsibilities range from writing captions and engaging with social content, to researching hashtags and helping plan photoshoots. In the past, I’ve assisted with editorial and merch-related tasks as well.

What did your journey of getting involved with the EiE community look like?

As a Jax native, I’ve been following this community since the early days of Babe Who Hustle! I became a fan-girl immediately. One day, BWH posted on Instagram about accepting editorial pitches, so I submitted one, and wrote a piece about working in the service industry. It was one of my very first articles published online :’) Some time later, BWH posted about hiring an intern, so I applied, interviewed, and did not get the position. I was a little bummed but, more importantly, felt a huge boost in confidence because these women considered and saw the potential in me. Eventually, I wore Chelsea down and she offered me a different role on the team (!!!), which I was better suited for anyways. Life is really cool sometimes, and things work out how they’re supposed to. I’m v grateful for EiE, and I’ve experienced so much growth and community by getting involved.

What’s (currently) your favorite thing about Each is Every?

The Master Classes and the Slack channels. I leave each class feeling so inspired and motivated, and the various Slack channels provide support and laughs on the daily.

In what ways has EiE helped shape your own professional journey?

I interviewed with the team right before I interviewed for the company I currently work for; like, the literal evening before. It was the best thing that could have happened! Being questioned by three women at once—women I admired and wanted to be friends with—was both intimidating and exciting. It prepared me for my corporate interview better than any article, questionnaire, or mock interview could have. Since then, this community has only helped me thrive. It’s given me opportunities, confidence, experience, a network and a new level of self-assurance, professionally and personally.

What’s a noteworthy (inspirational, funny, etc) memory you have of being part of this team?

Listening to Catalina, an Each is Every advisory board member, share her story during a live oral storytelling event. Seeing someone in the community be so vulnerable on stage and talk about struggles I didn’t know she endured, and then shout out a couple EiE members for helping her find a new path was beautiful, inspirational, and powerful. Tears were shed, laughs were had, and memories were made with other EiE gals.

Does the social media world ever get too overwhelming? How often do you feel the need to unplug and unwind—and what does that look like for you?

Absolutely; there are some days where I avoid it altogether, especially when the content is particularly heavy. I try to unplug at least one day each week to give my eyes, brain, and anxiety a little breather. To me, unwinding looks like chillin’ on the couch in sweatpants and an XL tee, moscow mule in hand, cat by my side, and dissociating with a comfort movie. I also enjoy reading and puzzles (of the jigsaw and crossword variety) to take my mind off reality. My brain doesn’t like to stop so I have to trick it into taking a break lol

Tell us about your 9-5.

I’m a Content Team Lead at Fanatics. My department is called Product Content Marketing, and our job is to build and launch licensed sports apparel and other merchandise on our retail sites. I’m on the Hot Market team, and we work with time-sensitive and often confidential products that go live after big sporting events, like the Super Bowl and the World Series. As a team lead, I audit content, create templates, lead workshops, and generally make sure the team is meeting expectations and corporate standards.

What’s your approach to juggling your day job with your role at EiE? Any organizational tips?

Planners, to-do lists, notes (physical and digital) – anything to help keep my thoughts together and priorities in plain view. I have many lists and notes for both hats, and my planner is a conglomeration of everything. Also (I don’t know the exact science behind it, but) the key to organization is a really good pen!

Where are we most likely to find you spending your free time?

I love thrifting. The excitement of finding a good deal, tacky treasure, or perfect project by sifting through dusty donations? Unmatched. I’m no stranger to the Starbucks-and-Target combo, but a Saturday at City Thrift just hits different.

If there was one thing you’d want our community to know about you, what would it be?

I’m just as shy and reserved as I am dramatic and goofy. Sometimes I need quiet and solitude to cope with overstimulation, and other times I want to dance in a crowded bar with loud music. She’s got range! And I blame it on my big three: Aries (sun), Scorpio (moon), and Cancer (rising).
