Three Easy WFH Outfit Formulas Anyone Can Use
In the age of remote work, many things are uncertain:
The internet connection at the coffee shop you’re working from
Whether a third meeting about that one project you’re working on is necessary
If your downstairs neighbors will be yelling at each other while you’re giving a presentation (this one is personal)
One thing always remains true, though: having a routine of getting dressed and ready for the day improves mental health by leaps and bounds. Combine that with the reliability of outfit formulas (an amazing find during hours upon hours of TikTok scrolling), and you can rest assured knowing, even if you wake up five minutes before your first meeting of the day, you’ll still look cute and put together (and, you’ll feel good mentally—even more important).
Let’s get into the three different outfit formulas you can use while you’re working from home, perfect for any body type and any kind of remote job (including real life testimonials from real life working gals).
And remember, all of these can easily be dressed up with the appropriate jewelry, makeup, and hairstyle.
#1: Oversized graphic tee + biker shorts
It’s an iconic duo.
An oversized graphic tee and biker shorts is a perfect way to spice up a cozy outfit with something that feels a bit more playful and modern. Throw on your favorite blue light blocker glasses, a cute hair clip, tiny gold hoops, and a swipe of mascara, and you’re good to go.
“Cozy on the bottom, cute on top, always!”
—Michelle, product marketing manager
“Girlfriend Collective everything (if possible). It makes it easier to convince myself to work out or move my body later.”
—Madison, marketing director
#2: Longline sports bra + leggings
This is the perfect formula when you have a yoga class early in the a.m., and a Zoom meeting you have to rush to right after. Imagine a world where you don’t have to wear a bra (or even underwear, if you’re a commando-with-leggings kinda person) and still look put together. If you do need to be on camera, throw on a light cardigan or button up on top.
Dreamy, isn’t it?
“When I know I have calls, I wear an appropriate shirt, but bottoms are usually athleisure. I also find myself wearing shoes in an attempt to feel more productive and like I left the house. No calls = no rules.” -Michelle, PR Director
#3: Basic tee + flowy pants
If you’re in the mood to be a little more corporate but still comfortable, the combination of a basic T-shirt and some kind of flowy pants (joggers, flared yoga pants, high-waisted sweats, etc.) will never steer you wrong.
You’ll show up to your 1:1 with your boss looking polished, and they’ll never know you’re basically wearing pajama pants. Win-win.
“My ‘uniform’ is a pair of high waisted loose fit drawstring pants with a cropped athleisure colored top and an oversized white linen button down” -Natalie, brand and website designer
There’s already enough to mentally deal with when it comes to working from home—getting dressed doesn’t have to be one of them.
